Scammer Attempt
Last Saturday night I parked my car near central on the street behind HMart. I got out briefly to read the signage to make sure I was parked legally when this older woman (appeared to be in her late 60s) approached me asking if I was from the area and could help her with directions. She told me her daughter had just gone into labor and she was new to the area and needed help heading to South Station to take a train to see her daughter. She said she couldn’t look up directions herself due to not having an iPhone. I thought asking for directions was normal enough even though I found it odd she didn’t have a smart phone. After I gave her directions she proceeded to tell me that she locked her wallet or card holder (whatever it was had all her money and keys in it) in her apartment and started strongly suggesting she wanted me to buy her a train ticket. The second she said this I knew she was trying to get money from/scam me so I started being more abrupt to get her to leave me alone but she was adamant/kept repeating the part about not having her wallet and needing a train ticket. She ended up walking away and all was fine but just wanted to post as a heads up to other people who live in the area - I have a feeling I was targeted as a young woman and want others to be safe!
