Dermatographia or initial crps
I’m worried about possible Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and would appreciate opinions.
History:
Last year, I had a car accident and injured my right index finger (sagittal band/extensor tendon subluxation). Symptoms improved but occasionally flared up.
Recently, I overused and compared both hands a lot, especially my left thumb/index finger, which became swollen temporarily.
Rheumatologic blood tests were negative.
Current symptoms:
Burning, stinging, hot sensation in both palms
Increased sweating of both hands
Symptoms fluctuate throughout the day and are often worse in the evening
The pain is not that "serious", just bothersome
Touch, friction, scrolling on my phone, or pressure seem to aggravate symptoms but no allodynia.
If i contact with something a few seconds, it becomes hot and a little bit burning
Sometimes parts of the palm become red and feel hotter than surrounding skin
If I scratch or press the skin, red lines/welts appear within seconds and fade later (possible dermatographia?)
Symptoms are bilateral, not just one hand(left one more serious)
Moisturizer seem to help somewhat
Started antihistamines and steroid yesterday, but not improvement yet
Pain is more superficial/burning skin discomfort rather than deep bone pain
What makes me unsure:
CRPS usually seems unilateral, but my symptoms are on both hands
Symptoms fluctuate a lot instead of being constantly severe
I do have autonomic-like symptoms (heat, sweating, redness)
There is actually dermatographia.
Does this sound more like dermatographia/histamine-related skin hypersensitivity or could early CRPS present this way?
