I was driving my 07 rabbit down the road when all the sudden I heard a bang and my alternator light came on, was able to limp it home but I’m scratching my head as to why it decided to shred apart

I did a major overhaul about a 100 miles back, ran fine up until now

The serpentine belt spins just fine, the tensioner for the a/c belt spins freely
