26M confused about how to clarify sensitive religion conversation with 24F I recently started talking to
TL;DR I 26M recently started talking to someone, its been only 3 days and things are going well. During a conversation about family background and marriage expectations, I gave an inaccurate answer about my caste/religious background because I got nervous about compatibility concerns.
Now I’m unsure about the best way to address it moving forward. I don’t want to create unnecessary drama, but I also don’t want awkwardness later if things become more serious.
For people who’ve handled sensitive family/social compatibility conversations:
- Is it better to clarify early or wait until the topic naturally comes up again?
- How do you bring up something like this calmly without making the interaction emotionally heavy?
- What’s the most mature way to handle this kind of situation?
