Swaddling help! Need baby to sleep some place that’s not my arms.
Hi! FTM to a 5 week old baby who won’t sleep anywhere that’s not in mine or my husband’s arms for both naps and bedtime.
We have been struggling with swaddling our daughter since we brought her home from the hospital. She breaks out of them and genuinely doesn’t like it. We’ve tried blankets, love to dream, swaddle me, sleep sack, batwing swaddle.. none of them work. She sleeps with her hands up and is a VERY active kicker. When we place her down (gently, feet first) her startle reflex wakes her up within 5 minutes and when she realizes she can’t move (either arms or legs) she cries and won’t settle back down unless she’s in our arms and then the cycle repeats to where none of us are getting any sleep. When we tried mo swaddle and just her onesie, her startle reflexes still wake her up.
Does anyone have any tips on going no swaddle at all for sleep time? Or have a swaddle where they know it’ll work for a baby who sleeps arms up but needs some sort of constrain around the legs? This mama can’t keep holding her baby all day and night long 😩
