Is changing 4 companies in 5 years a red flag for a developer?

I have around 5 years of experience as a developer and have worked at 3 different companies so far.

I’m thinking about switching again, which would make it 4 companies in 5 years.

Now I’m wondering — is this going to look bad on my resume?

I’ve had valid reasons for the previous switches — better role, growth, opportunities, and one layoff 🫠. My responsibilities have also increased with each move.

But from a recruiter/hiring manager perspective, does 4 companies in 5 years already look like job hopping?

Would appreciate some honest opinions, especially from people with 7–10+ years of experience or anyone involved in hiring.

If you saw this on a resume, what would your first impression be?
