French Riviera recommendations

Hi everyone!
We’re a group of 2–3 friends (26 years old) visiting the French Riviera for the first time. We’ll be based in Nice from 26–30 September, arriving by overnight bus at around 8:00 AM on the 26th, and flying out on the 30th.
Our travel style is:
🏖️ Beach every day (we’d love to swim daily)
🌸 Cute, aesthetic towns and streets
☕ Great cafés & bakeries
🥗 Vegetarian-friendly food
🍷 Wine, cocktails & nightlife
🚶 Slow travel (we’d rather enjoy fewer places than rush)
📸 Scenic viewpoints and coastal walks
Here’s the itinerary we’ve put together after a lot of research:
Day 1 – Nice + Villefranche-sur-Mer
Explore Vieux Nice & Cours Saleya Market
Beach swim in Nice
Check in
Train to Villefranche-sur-Mer
Explore the harbour & Old Town
Swim at Plage des Marinières
Sunset drinks
Dinner in Nice
Day 2 – Èze + Monaco + La Turbie
Train to Èze-sur-Mer & bus to Èze Village
Explore the village & Exotic Garden
Lunch
Monaco (Casino, Port, Old Town)
Swim at Larvotto Beach
Sunset at Tête de Chien (La Turbie viewpoint)
Day 3 – Nice
French pastry/croissant cooking class (hopefully!)
Lunch
Château de Crémat wine tour & tasting
Beach swim
Castle Hill for sunset
Drinks in Old Nice
Day 4 – Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat + Menton
Coastal walk (Sentier du Littoral)
Paloma Beach
Lunch by the sea
Train to Menton
Explore the Old Town
Beach & cafés
Dinner back in Nice
Day 5
Breakfast & final walk on the Promenade des Anglais before our flight.
Questions:
Does this itinerary make sense geographically, or would you rearrange anything?
Are we missing any must-visit towns or viewpoints?
Is Château de Crémat the best winery near Nice, or would you recommend another?
Any vegetarian restaurants, cafés or bakeries that are absolute must-visits?
Any recommendations for pastry/croissant cooking classes that are genuinely worth it?
Any hidden beaches, coastal walks or scenic spots we shouldn’t miss?
We skipped Cannes and Ventimiglia to keep the trip relaxed—would you keep it that way, or replace one of our days with Antibes or somewhere else?
We’re aiming for a relaxed, beautiful Mediterranean holiday rather than checking off every famous place, so we’d really appreciate any suggestions or changes. Thanks! 😊

**Questions**

Any **must-visit restaurants** we’re missing? (Veg dishes)
Best cocktail bars, wine bars or speakeasies for people in their mid-20s?
Any hidden gems in **Montmartre** or **Le Marais**?
Are there any experiences you’d recommend over something currently on our itinerary?
**Can anyone recommend a great pastry or croissant baking class in Paris?** We’d love a hands-on class focused on French pastries (croissants, pain au chocolat, macarons, etc.) that’s beginner-friendly and worth the price. If you’ve done one yourself, we’d love to hear your recommendation!
Thanks in advance! Looking forward to your suggestions. 😊

The Night Fountain Show at Palace of Versailles

Hi All,

I’m planning a trip to France in September. I’ll be in Paris on 19th September which is the last date for the Night Fountain Show at Palace of Versailles.

As of now, I was planning to skip Versailles as there are so many other things to do in Paris. I’ll be there for 4 days out of which one day is for Disneyland.

Given I’m already seeing the fireworks at Disneyland, is it worth it to do the Night Fountain Show at Versailles?

How was your experience if you had attended it? Would you recommend it something we should must experience? Accommodating this would require me to reshuffle my itinerary.

Thanks!

Amsterdam Travel tips as a first time visitor (thanks for help)

I’m visiting Amsterdam soon and have put together a rough itinerary after watching a lot of YouTube vlogs. I’d love to know what you’d change, what you’d skip, and if I’m missing any hidden gems.

Things I’m planning to do:
Sunset canal cruise
Explore Jordaan & the Nine Streets
Walk around Dam Square and Damrak
Visit the Red Light District (mostly just to see it)
Take the free ferry to Amsterdam Noord and visit the STRAAT Museum
Floating flower market
Try Van Stapele cookies
Eat stroopwafels (both from a local market and a proper shop)
Visit a brown café
Explore De Pijp
Maybe do the Heineken Experience

Things I’m unsure about:
Rijksmuseum (we’re already visiting the Louvre in Paris)
Van Gogh Museum
Anne Frank House
Madame Tussauds (leaning towards skipping)

Possible day trips:
Zaanse Schans

A bit about us:
Mid-20s travellers.
We enjoy exploring neighbourhoods, cafés, good food, scenic walks, unique experiences, and photography more than spending entire days inside museums.
We’d rather have memorable experiences than just tick tourist attractions off a list.
Are there any places on my list that are overrated or not worth the time? Also, are there any restaurants, cafés, markets, viewpoints, or experiences you’d strongly recommend that first-time visitors often miss?

FYI, we are planning to go to Paris, Annecy and Nice after Amsterdam

Indians in Paris/ Nice

Hi everyone!

My friend and I (one male, one female) are visiting France around mid-September and will be spending time in both Paris and Nice.

We’d love to meet fellow Indians (or anyone friendly!) for a coffee, a meal, sightseeing, or just to explore the city together if anyone is around. It would also be great to get some local recommendations on places to visit.

Our parents are a little anxious about us travelling abroad on our own, so knowing a few people who live there would definitely give them some peace of mind.

If anyone is around during that time and would be interested in meeting up, feel free to send me a DM. Looking forward to meeting new people!

Indians in Paris?

Hi All,

I’m planning a trip to France with my friends around mid September. Are there any Indians around Paris/ Nice that we can catchup with while there? We are a group of two (Male & Female- friends).

To be precise, our parents have a problem with us going together alone to France despite us just being friends. So we were thinking that we can say a friend living in Paris would join us for a bit and hence would look to speak to a few Indians living there lol. We can probably hang out, party together for a bit.

France Visa

Hi All,

I’ve applied for Schengen Visa via VFS France. Do we also need to submit inter Schengen transfer tickets? E.g Amsterdam to Paris and Paris to Nice. I cannot find any explicit requirement regarding this on VFS France website. Although I can see the same for Switzerland

Dummy Tickets or Fully Refundable Tickets?

Hi All,

I’ve applied for schengen visa via VFS France. I was wondering if I should get dummy tickets or book fully refundable tickets via Emirates/ Air France/ KLM etc. The fully refundable tickets are expensive and I’ll cancel them the moment I get the visa. I know dummy tickets work for a lot of people but a lot of people have also said their visa got rejected because of that.

What should I do? Are fully refundable tickets advisable? I’m ok with the money being blocked for sometime and just hope there would be no hidden charges
