Seat selection with toddler
I’m flying tomorrow (10/12/26) with my 22 month old (on my lap) for her first flight and only my second as a 31 year old. My flight is 3 hours, I am not a nervous flyer or concerned about bothering others since it’s mid morning and not terribly long. Right now I’m assigned a middle seat between two strangers, which of course I knew could happen being that I didn’t pay but my concern isn’t the other passengers it’s my daughter wanting to just run the whole time without having room and me looking like a cheap idiot. We are third row from back and as of right now both rows behind us are completely empty, I’m aware this can change anytime. I will deal with the possible craziness to save $30 as this is a trip for a friends wedding that came just so happened to land on the same week as buying a new home.
My question is, can I ask the gate agent (given the rows are still empty) if we can move? Is that even a thing on a more then half full flight? I just figured if it’s a thing maybe I could get lucky.
