I've been dating this guy for about 2.5 years and we've had a lot of downs. For the first 6 months he was everything I was looking for in a guy. For context, he and I met in a city we both aren't from. After the first 6 months he moved back home which is just about a 5 hour drive. Since he's left it's been a 180. We went from hanging out a few times a week to seeing each other maybe every 6 or 7 months. He became really distant and when I'd try to figure out the problem it would lead nowhere. He'd bring up his past relationships constantly and at one point made a decision to be celibate because he and his ex discussed it 3 years prior.... I broke up with him July 2025 and since then it's been a constant cycle of me telling him this dynamic doesn't work for me, him saying he's changed and a week of us being back in contact only for him to be the exact same person. This week we had a conversation that I feel like provided honesty that he never said before. I ended it but I do what to know was this salvageable? We clearly saw how relationships worked differently, but his responses made it seem like there was some other alternative that I wasn't seeing. Was I overreacting?
