Thinking about applying to a Target ETL position, but is it worth it?

I posted this in the Target sub, but it got removed for some reason so I’ll try it here. I don’t currently and haven’t ever worked at Target, but I am considering applying to an ETL position. In case you don’t know it’s an assistant store manager job. I was talking to someone who worked at Target a few years ago and he said I’d make a great ETL. He was saying because I’m empathetic and care about people the team members would love me as their manager. That got me thinking and that is what brought me to Reddit looking at this page.

About me. I’m a 34 year old male currently working as a customer service rep for a large finance company making about $70k a year. I also have been a realtor on the side for eight years. I work hybrid, have great benefits, and my job is easy, but I know I can do more. There are not a lot of growth opportunities where I’m at. I want to lead a team. I was a manager at Jamba Juice for a while and I’ve coached a couple sports for about 15 years. I want to feel like I’m actually doing something and helping develop people and also develop my own skills. I do have a Bachelors in Communications, was a college athlete, and I do have some retail experience working at Costco. I’ve read Target will hire a fresh college grad to be an ETL. Based on this person and what I’ve read here I feel like I have a good chance of getting a position.

What is the day-to-day usually like for an ETL? Is it more having to sit in an office and do administrative work? Or stocking shelves and running the register? Coaching your team members? Also how are the benefits? Specifically the health insurance and PTO. My main concern is the hours. I have 3 kids 5 years or younger. This may be store dependent but is it really common to work more than 50 hours a week? I also wish I knew what the pay would be. On the job description and reading on here it ranges so much it’s hard to know. I am thinking of doing the job for 2 years for the resume builder then leaving if I don’t like it. That seems to be what a lot of people do. I did think of applying to a seasonal or on demand job later this year and seeing what it is like.

Any thoughts or advice anyone has is much appreciated. Not sure if I’m crazy for wanting to try it out or if I should just stick to my easy job and continue being bored.
