Plus size hangers

I work in retail and we have flat displays, top + bottom outfit on a board. I think that plus size hangers would be great for representation, and better to accurately display different sizes. Has anyone experience with these? I’m curious if they’d display/read/translate as well to buyers as I’m picturing. I haven’t notice the use of them elsewhere, just plus size mannequins

am i being rude? (be honest)

i get my ebt at midnight. I usually show up to my local grocery store and get a few small items at around 11:30, i have to wait until midnight. They’re usually very polite and have never complained to me and i never get a lot of stuff but i want other retail workers honest opinions bc if the overall vote is i’m being rude i will stop doing it.

How to work the register at hollister

On my first day at orientation I worked register mostly my whole 4 hours and I got the basics down of how to make a purchase but sometimes a customer would ask to exchange and return or even for me to make an order to be shipped to their house for them, even uber orders were confusing. So if anyone can help me learn how to do this stuff step by step on the register I would really appreciate it 🥹. Also the zebras are a little confusing for me when I have to look up items for people too.

How to not take manager's criticisms personally?

Hi! So I have been working in retail in a grocery store since the beginning of the year and have not had much to complain about. I like the work (mostly) and my coworker are also lovely. However, recently, we have been in a really stressful period due to holidays, staff on vacation and staff quitting, the heat and AC not working, and a general larger influx of customers due to renovations and modernisation efforts.

I work full time, and am often the only person in the store earlier in the day who is restocking shelves and taking care of deliveries. Recently it has been especially bad, since we have been getting huge deliveries and loads of customers in the mornings trying to avoid the heat. Managers and I have been working overtime.

Anyway, my work often consists of shelving the personal hygiene products, which means lots of small, tedious to unwrap products, and they fall over quickly so I try to tidy the shelves up instead of just tossing my products into the mess. I do my best to be efficient, but with the heat and the amount of customers standing in the way/needing assistance (especially while I'm the only person working in the store – we have been having 3-4 registers open, often with managers having to help there), it has been difficult to get things done quickly. This means I come in, get told to do the work nobody else wants to do (too tidy and tedious, gets left if we don't finish unpacking the day of delivery for me to do the next morning) and then I get told off for taking too long. Often not in the nicest tone.

It's been getting to me. I'm so stressed. I don't want to go to sleep because I know I'll go through getting assigned the work and then being yelled at for taking too long again and again, every day. I've tried talking about why I'm taking longer, but the complaints keep coming.

How do I not take this so personally? I put myself fully into my work. I am friendly, I follow the rules, I try to leave everything nice than I find it. I care to do a good job, so when my work is criticised, it feels like I am criticised personally. Like it's some attack on my values and work ethic rather than manager taking their stress out on me. I just want to feel good about work again. Any hints or help?

Much appreciated (:

Three rejections within 10 days from Retail stores

I have no idea what’s wrong with me! I don’t understand how to convince them that I can work and I really can give my hundred percent? I feel so bad when I get rejections from retail part time jobs. I don’t understand why this happens to me. Why I get rejections every time. Can anyone help me!

Standing 8 hrs a day in retail. Does it ever get easier?

Working a supermarket checkout and standing for 8 hours straight is honestly killing me.

After my first shift I got home and just collapsed into bed. The bottoms of my feet felt like I was walking on needles, and my calves were so tight.

Really hoping to find some small things that make this more manageable. Any tips from ppl who've been doing this longer than me?

Managers of retail your thoughts please!

While working on Sunday my CSM told me a story about how I can basically be wrote up for emptying and changing overfilled and overflowing on the floor trash cans.

She said and I qoute, “They’ll file a grievance because you’re taking the cleaning people’s job away.” She also says I do things too fast as well and need to chill out.

For the record, I’m not going to stand in and on legit garbage for 6+ hours and wouldn’t you want your store clean?

Like I have never been shamed at a job in all my years for keeping a clean space when that is actually in the descriptions of my job.

General curiosity question for store General managers

I as a general store manager have always showed appreciation and gratitude towards my employees. I have always done thank you cards with gift cards inside. Or made special order purchases for shirts hats ect or order food or beverages. Just to say Thank you to my staff and crew. In general and for holidays ect. But I have never had my own boss as long as I’ve been here ever do anything like that for me. It’s crossed my mind several times , is that normal ?
Like for me , I’m always thinking about my staff. I appreciate my staff. I care about my staff. They are giving. I like to occasionally give back. I know they sacrifice. They go above and beyond. So I was just curious about other managers. ( unit managers actions towards them )

Tips and tricks for getting through the 4th of July

Hi everyone!

I’m a newbie grocery cashier who has never really worked a huge holiday outside of Memorial Day and Father’s Day. Seeing as I work 4 shifts in a row (3 closing, one of the closings on the 4th, and a Sunday), does anyone have any tips and tricks to make it at least somewhat tolerable? Or any tips and tricks to just survive? Thank you for all the help in advance!

Thinking about applying to a Target ETL position, but is it worth it?

I posted this in the Target sub, but it got removed for some reason so I’ll try it here. I don’t currently and haven’t ever worked at Target, but I am considering applying to an ETL position. In case you don’t know it’s an assistant store manager job. I was talking to someone who worked at Target a few years ago and he said I’d make a great ETL. He was saying because I’m empathetic and care about people the team members would love me as their manager. That got me thinking and that is what brought me to Reddit looking at this page.

About me. I’m a 34 year old male currently working as a customer service rep for a large finance company making about $70k a year. I also have been a realtor on the side for eight years. I work hybrid, have great benefits, and my job is easy, but I know I can do more. There are not a lot of growth opportunities where I’m at. I want to lead a team. I was a manager at Jamba Juice for a while and I’ve coached a couple sports for about 15 years. I want to feel like I’m actually doing something and helping develop people and also develop my own skills. I do have a Bachelors in Communications, was a college athlete, and I do have some retail experience working at Costco. I’ve read Target will hire a fresh college grad to be an ETL. Based on this person and what I’ve read here I feel like I have a good chance of getting a position.

What is the day-to-day usually like for an ETL? Is it more having to sit in an office and do administrative work? Or stocking shelves and running the register? Coaching your team members? Also how are the benefits? Specifically the health insurance and PTO. My main concern is the hours. I have 3 kids 5 years or younger. This may be store dependent but is it really common to work more than 50 hours a week? I also wish I knew what the pay would be. On the job description and reading on here it ranges so much it’s hard to know. I am thinking of doing the job for 2 years for the resume builder then leaving if I don’t like it. That seems to be what a lot of people do. I did think of applying to a seasonal or on demand job later this year and seeing what it is like.

Any thoughts or advice anyone has is much appreciated. Not sure if I’m crazy for wanting to try it out or if I should just stick to my easy job and continue being bored.

Those who work in sales how do I increase my UPT% without being pushy about additional items to a customers purchase?

I recently got hired at a Champs sports and I need to meet a UPT of 2% or higher, I average around a 1.5%. I have met 2% before but its not consistent. I believe I have only met that 2% on just pure luck. This is my first job ever, and I don't want to be let go because of my low UPT %. Does anyone have advice on how to persuade customers to add more things to their purchase but without being pushy? I have low UPT but I exceed my sales quote for the day by a great margin.

I don't want to work on the cash register anymore

Half of the retail jobs I've worked, I don't look back too fondly on but I could never really figure out why. Well, after working only two weeks so far in a seasonal store associate job I finally realize what it is: working as a cashier. I dislike standing around in one spot for a certain period of time, dealing with certain people can be stressful, and either corporate or your supervisor throws alot of information at you and it's hard for someone with a learning disability to sometimes absorb things.

I much prefer being out on the floor, stocking shelves , bringing out merchandise, and just overall being active and able to move around more. At the current job I was disappointed to learn that the majority of this position would be cashiering as well as some other related work. Today was hard because i had to learn all these new deals and I was already overwhelmed by it.

Thank God this is just a seasonal position, and whatever job comes i want to be absolutely sure it doesn't involve any cashiering

Is it normal for retail employees to walk customers to their car when it's night time?

My mom is very anxious about my safety. I'm her adult daughter. She insists that I should ask an employee if I have to go shopping at night. Specifically at Walmart. I told her I don't feel that's necessary unless I feel there is some source of danger. It being night doesn't seem like danger in itself. I don't usually shop at night. But sometimes I do. I'm just curious because she acted like I was doing something wrong by not asking an employee to escort me to my car. When I worked retail I never saw anyone escort any customers. So I'm wondering if this is something that happens in other places.

Anyone down to trade discounts ?

Hey! Ever since I started working in luxury retail, I’ve always wondered how many companies actually have good employee discounts just from dealing with my own personal experiences in many different retailers!

Currently work at Apple and Alo, and our discounts are pretty good! Figured to see if anyone else in retail places was down to exchange discounts.

What is your immediate reactions to these sites? (business owners /managers)

Hi. So, I'm doing some research around a few different sites aimed at businesses internationally and would like to request that you give me your immediate reactions / understanding based on what you see.

No need to spend a lot of time on this. ...just short and sweet. I do not want to take too much of your time. Thank you in advance.

Found out payment declined after getting home

Hi, I bought £30 worth of makeup today out a Boots, everything seemed fine at the cash register, the casheir let me walk away, I even stopped to put stuff in my bag in eye shot and wasent called over or anything. So I dident realise till i got home that the money never came off my card.

What should I do, do I need to go back to the shop?

What happens in cases like this?

The missing money dosent affect the cashier does it?
