I rescued Bandit about one year ago, he's one year old now and is a pitbull german shepard mix. For background (from what I have been told) he was in a crate for most of his life, his yard was full of dirt, debris, and children's toys so that he couldn't run when let out. In the house, he's the sweetest dog ever! When at the park alone he loves to run around and frolic, and throw his toys up in the air! but when another dog comes around one or two things happen: He wags his tail, excited and wants to play. Or he will start barking and attack his 3-year-old great dane brother; there's barely any in between. When I get him away to calm down he goes right back at it, and it's really frustrating me on how to go about this, i'm not a dog trainer. And while I'm in search of one, finances just doesn't match up with many of the asking rates in my area, I'm at a loss on what to do for them both, I want to believe that getting them bother nutered would help? But I'm also not a vet and I'm very confident that Bandit & Julius both needs training, but as I can't afford training, what are things/ ways I can handle it at home? Bandit loves going on hikes but his recall is horrible, his pulling on his leash is horrible, and he is not treat-oriented at all when out of the house like Julius is. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!
Update: I walked them separately and realized how lacking I have been in giving Bandit a chance to really expend his energy. He loves to run, and I am looking into parks, tracks, and indoor toys he can play with to get that energy under control.
