Do restaurant photo contests actually get you to share your food pics, or does it feel like the restaurant is just using you?

Genuinely curious what this community thinks.

I've been seeing a few restaurants try this thing where they run weekly photo contests you share a photo of your food, they pick the best one, winner gets a free meal or discount. Some do it through Google reviews, some through Instagram.

For me personally, I already photograph my food every single time without being asked but I've never actually posted a review anywhere even though I have 200 photos on my phone.

So I'm wondering, does a contest like this actually motivate you to share? Or does it feel gimmicky and transactional? Should I trust a restaurant more or less if I knew their review photos came from a contest?
