I still get excited about new connections but I'm also looking for more than just texting. I care about actually calling, gaming, potentially studying together, and actually doing stuff. I've clicked with people before but it always fizzled out because we never got past texting, even when I tried to initiate more. so i'll be straight up, if texting is all you can do, then we won't be a good fit.
Another important friendship factor for me is timezones. I am UTC-6 (MDT). I am cool if your timezone is anywhere in North/South America. But beyond that it becomes too hard to manage timezones. I am not a fan of having to manage a big timezone, it's tiring, and it's hard to coordinate times to hang out. This is just my experience, I know others have probably had better luck than me, but I will not budge on this.
And no, I do not want to stay on reddit! I use discord but open to other platforms like stoat etc. I am not a social media person otherwise, I do not use instagram, snapchat, X, etc.

I love all things old and antique, and history. I am trying to get into university and pursue a career as an archivist! The past is worth remembering. You don’t need to love history to be my friend, though. To me it is more interesting if you are also pursuing a passion! Then we can both gush about it.
I am a wannabe writer with no work to show other than a few unfinished rough drafts. When I am writing, I enjoy creating historical fiction with themes of loneliness, growing up and adventure. I do struggle with getting writing done, though. But I can talk about it all day if you will let me.
I am not a huge book lover, I don’t read nearly as much as I should. But I am throwing this out there. I would love to do a book club with you.
I like fishkeeping and I have a betta fish in my closet, in a ten gallon tank heated to 78°F. No fish abuse here.
Currently learning Japanese, because why not. Using a mix of immersion and study, and going slow. No, I do not want to practice speaking or texting in Japanese…! I am not really into anime but open to watching together if anime is your thing. (If you want to learn a language and don’t know where to start, let me help you!)
One of my goals for this year is to enjoy gaming again. Currently I am trying to get good at counter-strike 2 so it would be fun to play together. I am ass tho. I also enjoy java minecraft, war thunder, and other misc steam games. Definitely open-minded to trying games too. (PC player.)
Another one of my goals for this year is to go on more runs now that the snow is melting away. Totally down to keep each other accountable if this is your thing. If not, nw.
I am a hobby jumper, and it is annoying, but I have learned to live with it. I am working on consistency long term though. There is more stuff I love but I forget.
