I found this painting in Eustis, FL at an antique shop. I have been looking for art for my home and love this painting.

I originally thought it was a Florida scene, but the tag says Monterey CA Boatyard and the crane appears to say Pacific Tides Marina.

It is 30x40 and the tag says it is a Signed and Framed Original on Canvas. The signature appears to say Hovley.

The back doesn’t have information other than the canvas being Wolsey Co and the frame Made in Mexico.

Could this be an early piece by CA artist Vincent Hovley? Or is it a high quality tourist art / decor painting from Mexico?

I read that Vincent Hovley trained under Charles Beauvais and this painting has similarities to his artwork.
