Stone Rattle Can Project

I've been experimenting with a look that I've always wanted to achieve which is a stone-like finish. I always felt that it would be a cool ambiguous type of finish that could blend in different lightings and backgrounds while also not being too bright for night use. The holy trinity. This is the closest I've come so far. Giggity.

Here are the colors in layers from bottom to top:

-Black stock upper and lower.

-Brown base paint

-Black faded tiger stripe

-Khaki

-Brown

-Black

For the last 3, I essentially kept a continuous spray at a distance where the paint barely tacks on until I got the color I was looking for and until I achieved the right spackling. Honestly I think going back and forth between colors that you want to mix is the way to go, but keeping it wet seems to be the secret so the finish isn't flat and shiny, it's porous. At least that's what my backyard science has shown so far.

Edit: By the way, this is the same paint job under 2 different light colors. Chocolate and white.
