A while back, I posted about upgrading my 2013 S&W M&P15 MOE Mid Magpul Spec Series (811053), my very first AR, and asked for opinions on optics and whether upgrading the factory receiver extension hardware was worthwhile.

Well, I finally finished everything! Here’s the original rifle compared with the finished setup.

Factory Parts Retained:

Original 16” 4150 CMV Melonite barrel, 1:8 twist, 5R rifling

A Few Updates Since My Previous Post:

I ended up choosing the SIG ROMEO8T over the Aimpoint PRO and EOTech EXPS2-0.

I also went ahead with the receiver extension upgrade, replacing the original buffer tube, castle nut, and end plate with BCM and Forward Controls Design components.

The Feyachi WL65 is gone, replaced by the Streamlight HL-X Pro. I also managed to remove the overtightened mounting screws that gave me trouble earlier.

My goal from the beginning was to modernize my first AR with quality components without losing what made the original S&W/Magpul rifle special to me. That’s why I kept the original receivers, barrel, gas system, and fixed front sight.

After more than a decade of ownership, I’m happy with where it ended up. No more upgrades planned!

What do you guys think of the finished setup?

SOLGW stripped upper, Geissele goodies, the usual. Just picked up the KGM Core today as well. Feeling blessed!

These are my new Topo x Grip panels that I designed. They are stackable in a multitude of different ways. I designed them to be super versatile. They fit most m-lok rails with the exception of the chonky ones from aero and I'm sure there's other that I haven't tested they they don't fit. let me know your thoughts. These are SLS printed from Nylon 12 so they are pretty sturdy and can hold up to heat as well.

My only AR (right now) figured I'd like it to do a little bit of everything. It's done until I get NV... any LAM recommendations? Looking at the HS IRIS.

This is my first and only rifle, But the thought of running An ACOG/RMR Top dot is super appealing to me, especially since I've got a quad rail seems it'd match the aesthetics, but functionally speaking, does the ACOG/RMR do anything better than what my current optic stack does? Running a Sig 4xt pro with a G45. Anyone make the switch from a red dot/mag to a ACOG and if so, what are your thoughts?

Bought a rare greed trigger for really cheap the only thing was it came disassembled. Anybody know how to put it back together or have detailed picture of a stock rare greed trigger. I have the frt 15L3. Can’t seem to find anything online. The trigger is completely torn apart.

Just got the upper, only took 3 days from Eurooptic. Really love the looks and can’t wait to go shooting. Got a G$ Super 42 spring with H2 buffer. Rocking the A2 grip, waffle stock, and Comp M4 for the patrol rifle vibes. Really digging this. Had the LWRC folding grip for yearrrrsss and it fits the look on this perfectly.

More range time, Rhodie 6k, and rattle can are up next.

For those curious: yes, the PA microprisms will work with a 3x magnifier and give a clear image. It’s just a pain to use with parallax and eyebox.
Probably swap for a variable prism once they get developed more.
