I started complimenting my support in champ select every game and somehow my winrate went up
So this is gonna sound stupid but hear me out. Two months ago I was hardstuck silver, tilted as hell, blaming everyone. Decided to do an experiment because I'd read somewhere that lobby tone affects team performance or whatever.
Started typing "ggs in advance, glad to have you on my team" to my support every single game in champ select. That's it. Didn't matter if the lobby was already toxic, didn't matter if someone instalocked Yasuo support. Just one message at the start.
Sample size is like 60ish games now and I'm climbing for the first time in two seasons. P4 atm. The wild part isn't even the rank tho, it's that: nobody has flamed me first this entire time. literally not once my support actually wards. like ACTUALLY wards people respond to my pings. teamfights happen on objectives instead of in the river for no reason when i int nobody piles on, somebody usually says "np we got this"
Not saying placebo isn't part of it but I genuinely think a huge chunk of soloQ is just 5 people in a lobby waiting for an excuse to hate each other. One nice message at the start makes everyone weirdly reluctant to be the first asshole.
