Good evening!

I feel like about once a year I go looking for this same information and have yet to find a sufficient answer. So instead of lurking it's time for me to directly ask.

I need a quality set of dress shoes. But I'm an educator who goes to three campuses every day, and on average takes 8,000 steps. I wear slacks, a collared shirt, and a tie to work every day. I want shoes that look like dress shoes but won't destroy my feet like a standard pair of oxford or wing tips.

I've tried Rockport, Brooks, and Amberjack. My first pair of Rockport worked very well. However the subsequent pairs (2 more pairs after the first) only lasted about 3/4 of the school year then tennis shoes took over. The Amberjacks were the most recent, but they were a set of wing tips that came apart at the seam above the toes. Plus, they'd last about two weeks before I had to polish them.

So with that said, I'd ideally like to keep the budget less than $200, but I'm looking for a pair of shoes that will last a full school year but not make me want to sit down after 4,000 steps.

What would meet these requirements? (I had to reword that sentence, as the word "f i t" triggers some sort of "can't post this question here" error)
