Tire flat (off rim) - service dept wants to patch/plug
My 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 is only a few months old and has ~1000 miles. I was pulling out for work and realized immediately there was a flat. I called the service dept who sent a complimentary tow (I live a few miles away) and they mentioned they'll inspect the tire and most likely patch or plug rather than replace. The tow truck driver said its more likely significant damage since the tires are brand new and the flat one is hanging off the rim. I have the tire and rim protection bundle so just want to make sure they are not taking half measures, I also have a newborn so can't risk the tire blowing out on the road. I know it will be tough to judge from the photos, but what is your thoughts on it? Also seems to have slightly damaged the paint on the rim getting it up on the truck. What should I make sure to communicate with the service dept? Thanks in advance.
Updating to add- service tech called said they tire is trashed, pulling new one now from warehouse
