12 years old!

Maximus turned 12! I made him a big 'Cake' made out of ox liver, freeze-dried chicken heart, and a wet-food frosting. He was really excited about it.

Old fella always carrying a ball in his mouth on walks.

My 12 year old long-haired pointer, Maximus has an obsession with small balls. And he keeps carrying them with him on walks.

I am his 3rd home(as far as I know. His previous owners had to give him up due to medical issues that hindered them from giving him as much exercise as he needs)

I know he has abandonment issues. Could the ball-holding be a comfort thing? He never plays with the ball on the walk. He just holds it in his mouth. And when I pick up his poop, he drops it and looks at it or me, before he picks it up as I keep walking.

Sleeping in the bed tonight

Pjokken was sleeping on my arm over a towel tonight. They were just too cute and kept dozing off

Pjokken is confusing me

Pjokken is about 8-9 weeks old now, and I am very confused about their sex. Their comb is so big, yet saddle feathers are round, but I am also seeing some feathers with a pretty, blue and green shine.

I've gone back and forth myself, wondering what they are.

I was sitting in the run, tryna capture some film of the chickens, when Pjokken got real interested in my phone.

The area they are in is just a small part of their run, no worries, they have a big area to run around in, and the 3wk old babies are just out a little bit, to socialize with their big sis whilst the weather is warm.

Fingers and hands all cut open from chicken wire, but finally finished it!

Pjokken seems pleased at least. She'll still stay indoors with her sisters at night, until they are old enough to be outside as well.

Working on a chicken run!

I took this photo before I started adding the netting.

I don't have protective gloves, so my hands are full of small sores from the netting and metal wires. :p

This is their summer home, whilst in the winter, they'll stay in the shed you can see behind.

I am going to try making an addon where they can get from the run to into the shed next year. This is for 3 chickens.

I am adding the wall netting atm, and am quite nervous about adding the roof, and making the door fit. But hopefully I'll get it done by the weekend. It's real bad weather on the island rn, making it less than ideal to work on it.

Bum leg?

One of my day-old babies has a bad leg. As you can see, they stand on their bendt knuckles. I have read that it can be fixed by using tape? Is that so? And when are they old/big enough for that? They are much lighter and smaller than the other chick, so i am worried about doing something that can harm the little fella.

Built my first coop!

Don't worry! Getting an aditional, much larger fenced-in enclosure which it will go into next month.

Due to the predatory bird population on the island I live on I need their enclosure to be, well, fully enclosed, and getting those is pretty pricey. The birds that are gonna live in this coop are yet to hatch, so there's really no rush yet, as they are staying in their indoor pen for a while first.

I ordered this coop when the first hatching attempt was near its end(it was a failiure due to multiple factors) But we just put 3 very healthy-looking eggs into lockdown yesterday.

I'm keeping 2, and the 3rd will go back to the little local farm where we got the eggs from(when its old enough, ofc

Later on, i hope to get a rooster or hen from a different gene pool.

Built this at like midnight, because it's that wierd time of year here, where the sun doesn't go down for like 2 months, and my brain is confused, Lol.

By built, I mean that I put all the pieces together with screws and such. I am absolutely no carpenter.
