Help choosing proper SATA power cable
Hello, thanks for reading. I am trying to put some SATA storage in my old clunker to get it going as a home server. I have 4 drives installed on a daisychain cable that came with my power supply when I built the computer. I have more drives to install, but no more cables. I do have an open SATA power spot on the power supply.
I have now bought the wrong cable twice. The first one was a just a daisy chain extender, so a bad idea for 7 hard drives. 2nd was a Corsair SATA type 5 cable, and that is how I found out that not all SATA power is equal.
I want to make sure I order the right thing. Is there any good resource for checking cable compatibility with my power supply? Corsair has their spec sheet for my power supply, but for SATA it just says "4". Does that mean type 4? I think this type 4 cable is what I actually need. Can someone confirm that for me? Thanks again for reading.
