How realistic is med school if I'm at a 3.0 GPA first year
For context: I'm basically done with freshman year, and I screwed myself over both semesters. First semester, I was overly ambitious, got 2 jobs, got a C in gen chem 1, and a B in bio. Overall GPA was a 3.28. I told myself that I'd pull it together 2nd semester, but got stuck with a calc professor who couldn't teach, ending calc with a C+, gen chem 2 with a C and bio 2 with a B-. And my cumulative GPA is now a 3.0.
Regardless, I'm really committed to doing pre-med, and I haven't changed my mind at all this entire year. I've been working a clinical job since the summer before freshman year, I have research set up for the next 3 years and overall, everything else but my grades are good. I don't want my GPA to hold me back, but I tried so hard these past two semesters, and that didn't work out. I met with advisors and all they've done is suggest I switch into an easier major and maybe drop the pre-med path. But I truly want to do pre-med, and I cannot imagine my future without it.
I've never struggled academically and have always been good at adjusting to change (or so I thought). I need someone to tell me that it's possible to basically get all A's for the next 3 years. Or give me a solution because at this point, I don't know what I'm doing.
