I’m a 40+ guy, reasonably put-together, and I’ve noticed this happen a few times in cafés here:

You catch eyes with a woman.

Not just once — a few times over several minutes.

Not an obvious smile, not a full-on flirt… just repeated eye contact.

Now in some places, that’s a pretty clear “you can come say hi.”

But Dubai feels… different. More reserved, more nuanced, more diverse culturally.

So I’m trying to understand the signal properly instead of misreading it.

If you’re a woman in Dubai: When you make repeated eye contact with a man at a coffee shop, what does it usually mean?

– Just awareness / people-watching?

– Politeness?

– Mild curiosity but not an invitation?

– Or sometimes actually openness to being approached?

And more importantly: What’s the right way for a guy to handle it here without being awkward or intrusive?

Trying to calibrate cultural context, not just rely on assumptions.

Appreciate honest perspectives.
