We sleep trained at 6 months which went great for a couple of weeks but between developmental regressions and teething it didn’t stick. He was crying 40 minutes at a time all night long when he woke up and it was worse for my sleep/mental health compared to cosleeping. Now we’re at 9 months and I need to sleep train again but I’m worried it’s going to be 10x harder this time. He’s way more emotional and opinionated than he was at 6 months. Anyone successfully sleep train a second time and it stuck?

His schedule is currently 3.5/3/4 (sometimes 3.5/3.5/3.5 depending on the day). He wakes up at 7am. Naps are usually 1.5-2 hours for the first nap and the second nap is about 35-40 minutes. I plan to try again this weekend (hoping his two teeth pop through by then!). Any suggestions ahead of sleep training a second time?
