Do youth-led civic awareness videos actually help local issues?

Lately I’ve been noticing a lot of everyday civic problems around my area in West Bengal — broken roads, drainage issues, garbage dumping, water problems, etc.

Most people discuss these things privately, but very few actually try to document or raise them publicly in a constructive way. So I tried making a short reel-style video talking about these issues and the idea of citizens speaking up together.

I’m curious about what people genuinely think:

  • Do these awareness-style videos create any real impact?
  • Or do they mostly stay limited to social media engagement?
  • What kind of local civic content would people actually take seriously?

Would love honest feedback from people here, especially those involved in community work or local activism.

Can citizen groups actually help solve local civic problems?

I wanted to share an idea and hear honest opinions.

In many neighborhoods, people regularly face issues like garbage accumulation, drainage blockage, water supply complaints, or broken infrastructure. Most discussions happen online, but real coordination between residents and local authorities often remains missing.

Recently, some of us started working informally under a small citizen initiative called Nagarik Bondhu — the idea is simple: citizens helping citizens by documenting problems properly, connecting residents, and following up constructively with administration.

We’re sharing the logo here not as promotion, but to give an identity to a community effort focused on civic responsibility and cooperation.

The intention is not politics or publicity — only encouraging responsible local participation and practical problem-solving at the grassroots level.

Do you think initiatives like this can work in Indian neighborhoods?

Has anyone here seen similar citizen-led efforts succeed?

Would genuinely like to learn from others’ experiences and ideas.

Look at this.

This was not a “dirty corner.”
This was system failure.

Garbage dumped. Rotting. Ignored.
Right in front of people’s homes — and no authority cared enough to act.

So we did.

This is Project Bondhu by Jubo Bangla Samiti — not a PR stunt, not a one-day drama. This is what happens when citizens stop begging and start taking control.

But don’t celebrate this too fast.

Because the truth is uncomfortable:
If we can clean it in a day, why couldn’t those in power do it in months?

Where are your taxes going?
Where is your councillor?
Where is the accountability?

We are not here to “adjust” with dirt, corruption, and excuses.
We are here to challenge it. Replace it. Fix it.

If you’re angry — good.
If you’re tired of seeing the same problems — even better.

👉 Don’t just scroll. Join.
👉 Don’t just complain. Act.
👉 Don’t just watch. Lead.

This is bigger than one cleaned spot.
This is about taking back our streets.

Jubo Bangla Samiti is building a ground movement.
Decide which side you’re on.
