I spent a year and a half with horrible recurring yeast that started when I had to take 7 different courses of antibiotics within a 2 month period. I tried everything at home possible besides candida diet. No sex, sex with condoms, taking my IUD out and getting on the pill, every medication possible, a million probiotics, candida cleanse supplements, no underwear, and nothing was working. It got to the point that if I wasn’t actively using antifungal meds I had symptoms. I went to an infectious disease specialist for a few months and we did testing for hormone issues (no problems), medication resistance, tried different medications and suppression therapy (which did help a little bit but I was still having like 4 yeast infections a month).
I hadn’t had my period in about 5 years because of my IUD, when I switch to the pill it still didn’t come back. I stopped taking birth control because at this point I felt very asexual from all of this, and was no longer in a relationship. 4 weeks later I got my period for the first time in years and… IM CURED. It’s been about 3 months and I’ve had 2 yeast infections, one of which was from taking antibiotics for a UTI. Like it doesn’t even feel real, my vagina is functioning normally again. I’m having a ton of sex now with zero problems. I have no idea why this fixed me but if you are at your wits end like I was, getting off birth control could be worth a shot. 💕
