Rod handle repair

What are some essentially no cost ways to rig up a handle onto an old rod with cracking dried out cork handles? I got the rod for 5 bucks so im absolutely not spending a dime on getting it usable, my thinking is in the realm of like duct tape handles or some shit.

as the title says. i dont want to buy another fly line just to make the problem worse. i can barely get any distance like were talking 10-15 feet with the wf3f line that wildwater fly fishing makes and flies just straight up wont turn over (as if it matters at that point anyway lol) so is that brcause im underlined ? overlined ? i know google is my friend yada yada but i like asking people who actually know what theyre talking about.

Edit: rod is an aventik whisperer 3/4wt and from what ive heard these are good rods so i dont think thats the problem, i also have a redington field kit euro but that thing doesnt really cast with wf line ive tried lol.

basically the title, i need a good wf4f line for the low low, open to aliexpress lines even as long as they are known to be good like some of the rods and reels on there. i bought a 3/4 weight rod and then bought a reel from wildwater fly fishing that came pre spooled with wf3f and its not enough to load the rod i literally maximum cast like 15 feet and ive only ever gotten a fly to turn over once. By the way when i say cheap i mean CHEAP.

Edit: AustinLostin is the GOAT sieera.com is the shit
