How do Championship clubs afford to maintain stadiums with capacities so much bigger than their average attendances?
Asking out of curiosity. From what I can find out, 7 of the 10 clubs for the 2025/6 season own their own stadium, and of those 7, the average attendances for the season range from 16.6% of the stadium's capacity (Morton) to 47.8% of the stadium's capacity (Dunfermline), so ticket sales probably don't add up to much. Also, I can't imagine the sponsorship and media deals are particularly lucrative. Do those clubs make a lot of money by letting their stadiums host events by other organisations, for example, or do they manage to get higher player transfer fees than I would've expected?
