V2 Picofly mod — Hekate works, but OFW/CFW black screen + Battery Info errors

V2 Picofly mod — Hekate works, but OFW/CFW black screen + Battery Info errors

I’m close to giving up on this V2 Switch mod and would really appreciate some advice.

I followed the full V2/Picofly installation process from the NanoFix YouTube guide. The console boots into Hekate normally, but I cannot reliably boot anything beyond that.

Current situation:

Switch V2 / Mariko

OFW: 22.5.0

23 burnt fuses, which seems correct for 22.5.0

Latest Hekate/HATS

Atmosphère 1.11.2

Original SanDisk SD card

eMMC benchmark looks good with no read errors

SD benchmark also looks good

Hekate detects the eMMC and partitions normally

OFW → black screen

Semi-stock SYSMMC → black screen

CFW SYSMMC → black screen

CFW EMUMMC → usually black screen

I managed to boot into emuMMC and reach the HOME menu briefly once, but it froze and then went black

Occasionally I get Atmosphère fatal error: Program ID: 0100000000000005 std::abort() called (0xffe)

I previously saw Pkg1 decryption failed / BEK missing, but that disappeared after changing to a different clean package.

The main thing that looks abnormal is Hekate → Console Info → Battery. It shows errors for:

  • Fuel Gauge IC
  • Battery Charger IC
  • USB-PD IC

However, the battery itself appears to work. The console charges, stays powered in Hekate for a long time, and when I briefly reached the emuMMC HOME menu, it showed a battery percentage.

I also don’t see any obvious damage on the battery-side area of the motherboard.

Could the battery/I2C communication errors be responsible for OFW and Atmosphère black-screening even though the battery still charges and powers the console? Or does this sound more like a software/firmware issue or a Picofly soldering/board issue?

Has anyone had similar symptoms—Hekate working normally, good eMMC/SD benchmarks, but every HOS boot black-screening—and managed to fix it?

Unstable Atmosphere on 22.5 firmware

Greetigs All. I managed to go through all the process of modding my v2 console. The issue start right after I tried to run the emuMMC on hekate. The atmosphere launch, boot in to the main menu, then crashes to black screen. My switch was updated to 22.5, and I used all the latest HATS and atmosphere files. Additionally, the battery percentage is showing 0% although I have suficient charge. Battery diagnostic showing error. What could be the reason? Thanks in advance.

Mess due to desolderung.

It’s basically a mess right now. I accidentally dropped a big blob of solder that completely covered the cap and pad, so I had to spend quite a while desoldering and cleaning everything up. The solder wasn’t flowing very well even though I used a ton of flux, so I’m thinking there might be an issue with the tip.

However, the multimeter readings seem okay. I’m getting around 14.8–15.1 Ω between the signal pin and ground pin. What do you guys think? Does it look okay so far? I haven’t proceeded to the next step yet.

Took off emmc shield.

Greetings. I was trying to mod the switch v2 version. I was at the emmc chip removal stage. I messed up the process and took the shield off with the chip. The chip is fine. But the shield came off as well. Is the process is compromised completely?

I see some ground pads on the shield, so what to do in this situation?

Modchip Confusion

Hello everyone, I purchased a second hand switch(V2). I would like to mod this switchg. I understand that I need to install modchip in this switch. I got a bit confused about the different edition of the modchip. Which one should I buy? The one with the less soldering joint will be preferred as I had done only soldering on Xbox controller joystick replacement. Thanks in advance.
