Yesterday I posted in this community as well as in few other communities asking convincing parents on how to start an instagram account as I have passed 10th with flying colors... Majority of them... i think about 4 out of 5 comments stated that I shouldn't start one as it can be addictive and not worth it....
I also mentioned about my cousins and friends that have an insta... but on interacting with them again only I found out that they ain't regular users and only 1 or 2 use it daily... and they're like about-to-turn 18 or have turned 18...
for interaction purpose I wanted to start insta.... but what if I am into the digi world and I start getting FOMO? many people of my age are experiencing it... it is not at all worth it... to interact and all with them it will be difficult.... but way better than losing myself into the black hole of FOMO.... I can rather wait like people in the old days used to do for meeting their loved ones abroad and all... and have face-to-face chats with them....
I have done more than enough research and came to this conclusion.... if anyone my age is seeing this post and is in the same situation as I am.... all I have to say is wait.... till we are mature enough... some might be mature but... when we are done with schooling then it would be better..... to start one.... we are studying children... 11th and 12th are way tougher.... each minute is important according to our peers... so after these two years we can do anything we want...
if your parents are denying... they might be doing it for our safety only.... understand it... while doing research, I came across stories of many people whose academic life was destroyed just because of social media.... and please.... don't even think of starting an account anonymously.... if somehow our loved ones find it out.. then things will get worse only....
So my final advice.... stopping this obsession with instagram and other apps would be better if we are serious about our life... even though my life goal has nothing to do with my academics (which is becoming a director).... I am putting in all to my academics to get a job which I love as much as I love cinema... so that even if my dreams come to a halt, I can survive and explore the world.....
ONCE THIS POST REACHES ENOUGH PEOPLE.... I WILL DELETE MY REDDIT ACCOUNT AS WELL... KINDA DIGITAL DETOXING MYSELF.... TILL I TURN 18.....
