I’ve been going back and forth about whether to post this, but with everything coming out recently, it feels like courage is being shared across the community and that’s given me the strength to say something. For a long time, there have been talks about a certain young actor—someone who works across theater, film and TV, occasionally streams on TikTok, and was recently part of a production of a hit adaptation of an ’80s movie. He grew up in the industry jumping from one theater company to another and now has grown into a sexual offender.
It first came to my attention when a friend of mine shared her experience with him. What followed felt like a domino effect: more and more women in the industry began speaking up, sharing similar stories about their own encounters.
I won’t put a number on it, because there may be others who haven’t come forward yet. But hearing these accounts has been deeply disheartening. Beyond the allegations of sexual misconduct, he is also a cheater. Onstage, he plays the youthful boy next door but behind the curtains everything’s just a façade. He uses his charm to make women feel they’re safe but only to corner them.
It’s about time these conversations are brought to light. For a community that empowers a safe, brave space why are these types of people still here? Why do we protect them?
