Claim ?: Do I need a Police Report for Rear End at stop light?
Both drivers have Progressive.
Driver behind rear ended me in a right turn yield lane while I was stopped for the oncoming traffic due to a red light. He rolled into me not paying attention to two oncoming cars, one right in front of me and the other in the intersection.
I filed the claim today. Should I go back and have the officer file a report? I was thrown off that the automated process seemed to indicate I was liable for my deductible. Is that just the first steps since I filed?
Other driver apologized right away, took ownership. I called the police, he recorded everything on his body cam but then advised that while he could do a report, it wasn’t required since there wasn’t a traffic law broken that caused the accident (since it was a yield lane?)
Took the car to a couple shops before filing the claim. Hoped we could just handle without insurance because it didn’t look bad at all but it was a nice hit. The cosmetic damage is near minor but the impact bar is crushed and the frame is bent and the trunk is off-kilter (might not be able to be pulled out). Both estimates were ~ $4.8k on my 8 yr old car with only 45k miles. I feel it’s necessary to get it repaired because I’ll have young drivers soon.
So bummed to lose my Diamond status, especially as I have two teen boy drivers coming into the picture this summer.
