I am the new owner of a Honda 40hp outboard, from ~2006. I noticed that the section of metal shaft is exposed and it looks like water would get into the hole it goes through into the lower unit. Does anyone know if that's normal? On my Honda trolling motor that section seems fully sealed. Also wasn't sure if that random capped hose was of concern. I'm new to outboards and just diving into sorting out how to maintain them. Thanks!
