The raise feels unfair

I was first hired for a clerical role. Later on, operations tapped me to handle a broader scope of duties.

With the clerical role, I earned 28k basic pay for a year. I didn’t mind because the setup was hybrid, the schedule was flexible, and I got holidays off.

When I moved to operations supporting clients, things changed—I had to be onsite, no more flexible schedule, and no more holidays off. But that was fine since the project was easy. Plus, I could still do overtime on weekends, which helped me pay the bills. I usually earned around 35–40k with OT.

Recently, I got transferred again—this time to a travel project under a new manager. I didn’t even ask for it; I was requested. The problem is, the project requires skills I don’t have. Most agents they hire have at least 3 years of experience, while I have zero background in travel.

My boss processed a raise, but it was only 7k. That barely covers my daily expenses for going onsite. On top of that, I no longer get paid for OT—I just get an allowance because of the higher job grade.

Now I feel like my boss is holding it over my head that if I don’t have the skills, they’ll just hire someone externally. And honestly, I didn’t even ask to be assigned here. I’m really trying.

So now I’m wondering: should I resign? Is 35k even good enough pay for a corporate travel trainer?

35k is the entry pay for trainers. When i asked if we could haggle, they said no. Apparently, it’s non negotiable.

What should I do?

I recently lost an immediate family member and really need the money.
