Student accommodation or renting a house for second year?

Hi all, I just moved out of Trinity Hall a few days ago, but was unexpectedly accepted there again for second year (I applied with a special consideration form). The problem is I already put down a deposit on a house with my friends. I could get the deposit back if I find a replacement for my lease, but I don't know what to do.

I am very scared of the second-year house curse, even though I do really like the 3 girls I'll be living with, there will also be 2 other strangers. If we fight it would be DEVASTATING. Plus, the house is Northside which isn't terrible but not ideal for nights out and stuff. But in hallsI'd be living with first years, and I know from experience a lot of first years are so messy. And I'm not guaranteed to make friends again in halls, I could be super lonely the whole year. Last year I honestly got really lucky...

Both rooms are singles, although the halls room has an ensuite. They're similar prices, halls is marginally cheaper. And they're roughly the same distance by bus from college. So I am completely stuck as to what to choose.

What would ye do? People keep telling me to stay with the house but my gut is telling me halls- I love rathmines and I loved the community, but I'm aware that it wouldn't be at all the same since I'd be a second year among a sea of strange first years. But maybe it would help push me to keep socialising?

Thanks

Is Trinity Halls or a house better for a second year student?

Hi all, looking for advice/opinions on the situation I'm in. I just moved out of halls a few days ago, after failing in my Welfare run and resigning myself to my fate.

So I signed a lease with 3 of my friends for a 6 person house on Northside for next year, the lease is until September 2027 which is a pain since I don't plan on living in Dublin for the summer. And I was genuinely excited, I'd be getting a single room with a shared bathroom, I get on really well with those friends, and the area is decent.

But then today I got the email that I got accepted back into halls with a SINGLE ENSUITE!!! I was in a twin this year and I found that really annoying, but I loved the community life and my flatmates. So this would be genuinely amazing. I loved Rathmines and I also loved all of the little things about halls like the music room and the shop, so I'm seriously considering accepting the offer and trying to find someone else to take my lease. I know I'm really lucky to get acceped to halls again so I don't want to waste the opportunity

The only reason I wouldn't take halls is that I'd feel bad ditching my lovely friends like that, and potentially missing out on a cool experience living in a house. I'd also feel weird being a second year in first year accommodation. If anyone has any experience living with situations like this, please let me know, because I am genuinely so stressed about this.

ETA- both are similar prices, but halls is obviously cheaper. im gonna be on erasmus for 3rd year so i only have this year or my final year to live with my friends
