Is schols worth it?
If youre a consistent 2.1 student ( arts/ humanities degree) would you consider doing schols? I'm not sure if the extra stress is actually worth it or not especially with how competitive it is
Biking from Trinity Hall
Hi, so I'm hoping to study at TCD and live in Trinity Halls. I understand that Trinity Halls are quite far from campus itself, so I was wondering if anyone has experience with biking back and forth? I don't really mind the distance, but are there biking lanes/safe ways to get there?
I come from a country where biking everywhere is quite normal, and I would like to save the transport fees.
Ultimate Hear and Dare collection
Hi everyone, I want to make a complete collection of hear and dare reduction of points for a variety of courses and compile them into one single excel spreadsheet. I'm posting this across many different subreddits and collecting averages and lowest accepted etc... I would greatly appreciate it if you could comment on your own experiences with HEAR/DARE , and your reduction of points. Whether it be a course like medicine or radiation therapy or education etc... literally any course. Any and all information is appreciated. I wanna be able to post the excel sheet for everyone and be able to give a complete educated guess on this year's reduction and even years in the future as I've found it difficult myself to find this information. Thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Anyone can take after how many days you received coding test link from university for this course.
And which language you choosed and felt the compiler worked well for that language .
Since it is in September I didn’t still receive coding test link.
Indians need to STOP coming to the University of Galway (&Ireland) in order to exploit a citizenship loophole..There is nothing here for Native Irish people now, let alone these droves of you guys! We have been saturated with Indians the last 2-4 years & you will be resented. Please stop!
Long story short, if you an Indian planning to come to Ireland to exploit us for citizenship then PLEASE STOP now! Not only will YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED, you will likely be homeless, unemployed, leaving in debt, stuck in dead end minimum wage job OR (if you do come in 2026 to stay for citizenship) resented for taking+strategically replacing us in our jobs, resources & EXTREMELY limited property as I try explaining here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/galway/comments/1u2djt1/hse_employment_freezesgalway_as_an_irish_nursing/
(All encouraged & enabled by our criminal, traitor puppet Government + INDIANS in managerial roles)
We can't cope!! The University of Galway already took International students, including Indians but then the University made a deal with Cialfo in 2022, which saw them exponentially recruit students from Asia. Of course, with the inventor/CEO being Indian, it’s no surprise that it’s ALL INDIANS:
As you can see, this outrageous move was called out especially considering Irish Natives were already had a TERRIBLE & resource housing crisis. Even outside of Indian students, the amount of Indians entering into Ireland the past 2-4 years has placed an INCREDIBLE burden on our Country+pressure on our services& at this stage, they are just exploiting us & our VERY CORRUPT GOVERNMENT!
It's one thing to want to come here to get a decent education or to gain experience working & return home but I would say FAR TOO MANY if not most of you are greedy & simply come for citizenship. Like I said, it’s not worth it anymore.
I literally just saw an Indian post on here, who seeking to do a Masters in Tech but once confronted with bad job market, he was immediately on board of entering into a SOCIAL CARE WORK CAREER/course, simply after a dumb Irish person told him there’s work available in this field..This is CRAZY!!
So a man is literally jumping ship & into a career which SHOULD be a vocational role working with vulnerable Irish people..all because he wants to set up shop here & get a fast track to citizenship?! No sorry this is unbelievable & disgusting, shame on any Irish person encouraging such nonsense. I wonder will they realise how wrong they were here they’re living in their mam‘s box room at 35!
I am sorry for your Nation’s large population but that really isn’t Ireland‘s problem to solve, we are only 4 million ethnic Irish people with a colonial history ourselves.
Your president should be seeking multinationals to his country instead of celebrating the exodus of his people to the West!!!
Should i refuse on campus accommodation?
UPDATE : definitely no, thanks!!
Hi! I ve been accepted in a 1year MSc in Structural Engineering starting in September and I'm not sure how important it is to live close to campus (regarding workload, social life and sports)
I have booked a room a few months back at Point Campus (in the docks area, a 35min walk from TCD) because i thought I wouldn't be accepted for the on campus accommodation. I have already paid ~1300€ to book the room there, which im quite sure i cannot get refunded.
My rent at Point Campus is around 1450€/month.
The rent at Printing House (King room, only room available... 🤧💸) on campus would apparently be around 1219€/month, so 10 085€ until May 2027, but its still cheaper than Point Campus so it would compensate for the booking fee loss.
I'm satisfied with what the accommodations at Point Campus look like (two gyms, very important to me, apparently Trinity's is overcrowded) and i enjoy walking.
But I'm coming from France, so i do take into account that living at TCD might be better for going out, adapting to small details like grocery shopping, living close to friends etc. And I'm a 20yo woman so it might be safer not having to walk far at night? I do like saving money tho x)
What d you think?
Accomodation rejected
I am an international student coming to Trinity this September and I just got the email my application for accomodation has been unsuccessful. I’m not really sure what to do now given I only have a couple of months of time to find a place. Is anyone else in the same situation or knows what to do after? Or where to look?
Any other postgrads finding it hard to make friends?
Hi all,
I'm a 30-year-old guy from rural Ireland who's been living in Dublin for almost three years. Despite that, I haven't really made any new friends here. To be fair, I haven't put a huge amount of effort into it either, but it's something I've been meaning to tackle for a while.
I'm currently doing my postgrad in TCD, which keeps me pretty busy. The postgrad social scene isn't the easiest; most people seem quite settled into their own lives, so it can be hard to build friendships outside of classes (in my experience at least).
I've got a great group of friends, but most of them live outside Dublin, so it'd be nice to meet a few people locally.
Sport is a big part of my life. I play tennis regularly and watch a lot of Gaelic football and soccer. I'm also into hiking, walking, cycling (to college mostly haha) and generally getting outdoors, although I'm equally happy grabbing a coffee (hot chocolate in my case) or heading for a pint every now and then.
One thing I've noticed is that it almost seems easier for people moving to Dublin from abroad, as they often arrive looking to build a new social circle alongside other internationals. A lot of Irish people, myself included, already have long-established friendships from school, their undergrad days or from home, so there's often less of a habit, or necessity, of actively making new friends as adults. I think that's part of what makes it challenging!
I'm in a long-term relationship, so this is purely about making new friends. It'd be great to meet someone who's up for a walk, a run (I've been thinking of joining one of the social running groups), a coffee, a hike, watching a match, or just a few drinks and a chat.
I'm based in Dublin 7, but happy to travel around the city.
If any of that sounds familiar, feel free to drop me a message!
Anyone Joining TCD This September?
Hello,
In September 2026, I, an overseas student, will enroll in Trinity College Dublin's Computer Science program.
I want to get in touch with people who are enrolling in the same intake. Getting to know a few people before classes start would be fantastic.
I also wanted to inquire:
Has anyone been awarded a scholarship by TCD?
If you’re joining TCD this September, feel free to comment. Looking forward to connecting!
Trinity Law or NCAD?
The cao is closing in a couple days and I am having second thoughts about my choices. I worked really hard to get into NCAD (common entry), but I’m worried that the college itself might not be good or that I am making a mistake.
I have been thinking about doing law, as I am interested in it, but I also would love a creative career. I am just not sure what the right course of action is. I also think Trinity just looks like a better college…
Any advice would be really appreciated! Thank you!
Trinity Halls application – what happens if I don’t get the course I listed?
Hi everyone,
I’m an incoming first-year applying to Trinity accommodation through the CAO.
On the accommodation application, I had to enter the course I intend to study, so I put TR662 – Philosophy and Sociology (Joint Honours) because that’s currently my first Trinity preference.
My question is: what happens if I don’t get that course, but I still get into Trinity through another one of my Trinity CAO choices (for example, my second or third Trinity option)?
Would my Trinity Halls application still be valid, or would I lose my place because I listed TR662? Does the accommodation application automatically update based on the course I’m actually offered, or is it linked specifically to the course I entered?
Has anyone been in this situation before?
Thanks!
Current Masters students, How good is the career guidance at TCD and how is the job market for someone enrolling in September 2026?
I wanted to know how well the careers team at TCD is in helping students in applying for jobs and helping students land jobs in this turbulent job market? Are the alumni helpful with the same when it comes to networking?
Looking forward to your answers :)

Accomodation and Classmates
I'm 24F, starting MSc in Responsible Business and Sustainability at Trinity this September. My accomodation request was 'unsuccessful' and I'm looking for a private housing and I'd REALLY appreciate if you got any leads on a spare room, housemate vacancy, or house share near campus. Budget is €700-€800/month.
A little about me - I've been in accomodations (aka hostels) since I was 17, so I'm very used to sharing a flat/room. I understand the importance of respecting personal space, being considerate about noise and I'm tidy.
So, if you are on the same boat or enrolled in the same course or if you got any leads - feel free to comment and I'd love to connect with you.
Thankyou very much in advance :))
BESS vs Global Business
I’m hesitating between BESS and Global Business, and I really need some advice and real experience from people. Can anyone tell me more about these two majors and which one would you recommend?
Thx
Payment of Tuition through Transfermate
Hi, has anyone paid the tuition fee through Transfermate as an international student? If yes, how has your experience been?
My payment has not reflected yet and I'm wondering if I should do something about it.
Everything an international student needs to know before moving to Dublin?
I am forming a tentative packing list at the moment for my move from America to Dublin for the next 4 years, and am getting a little nervous, so any tips or tricks about the city would be well appreciated
