Accepted an offer

Hiya everyone.

After I did my leaving cert last year I decided to do a PLC in applied psychology once I realised I probably wouldn't get enough points for the course I wanted.

Happy to say that a couple of days ago I accepted an offer to do social studies here.

Never could have seen myself in this position 3 years ago when my guidance counsellor from my old secondary basically told me I'd get nowhere in life, but here I am now.

Looking forward to being here and I'm very excited to start in September. 👍

20 M Dublin, looking for friends who are around my age. All genders are welcome :)

Hiya all.

Seen as the football/soccer season is about to start again after the world cup, I thought it'd be a nice idea to look for anyone who loves watching football, doesn't matter which club you support.

I support Liverpool. Not the best of seasons we've had last season 😬.

Just a bit more about me in case you're interested:

I love listening to music. Mostly hip hop, indie rock, rock, britpop, etc etc.

I finished a psychology plc in May and I'm currently awaiting offers for round 0 of the CAO. Fingers crossed trinity 🙏 🤞.

I do play video games now and again, mostly on my PS5.

I like going to the cinema to watch movies, last movie I saw was Spider-Man Brand new day. Was amazing.

I've been going to the gym recently to make the most out of my summer break.

I do tend to be introverted when meeting new people, but once we get to know each other I open up a lot.

Am I the problem here?

Hey y'all. Im 20 years old (male) and i have not had a great relationship with my mother ever since my dad died.

My dad died 4 years ago and my mum has not been the same since then. She regularly gets irritated and angry over the simplest of things (like asking her a question).

Whenever she is not in work, she tends to sit on her phone doomscrolling for hours endlessly with little interaction with the environment around her. I do try to start conversations with her but she'll either ignore me or just say "yeah" and nothing else.

She hardly ever admits Whenever she is in the wrong and it has caused me a great deal of emotional pain and frustration.

To put into perspective:

I had a panic attack because of her once, she did apologise afterwards. But when we got into a future argument, she took back the apology and said "You made yourself have a panic attack, because that is the way you react."

She also thinks its ok to yell because she is my mother. So there's that too I guess.

I also believe that she tries to maintain a level of control over my life. She does not want me to be in relationships with any girls at all. Her reasoning for this is so I don't get hurt.

She has also accused me of stalking people whenever I go outside, simply because I mentioned to her that I ran into an old school friend and decided to catch up with her for a bit.

I really wish I got along with her more, I really do. But her reactive and defensive personality makes it really difficult for me to live in the same house as her.

I have suggested to her to get counselling, but when I did she got really defensive and said to me that she was perfectly okay.

Its gotten so bad to the point that I want to move out and cut contact once I am able to be dependent on myself.

There's a lot more I can say, but I'll be here for hours if I continue.
