Note-taking

Hi, I’m an incoming mature student. I’ve graduated from uni nearly 20 years ago, when note-taking was done only on note pads. (I’m ancient 🙈)

How do TCD students take notes in classes? Laptop? iPad? Note pads?

Since getting accepted I am being targeted with meeting summary apps, backed by AI - do people even use that kind of apps in lectures?

I really have no clue, while trying to mentally prepare myself. Input from current students would be super helpful. Thanks a lot!

My parents never asked me any questions

And if they did, it was a way to scold, interrogate, intimidate me. There was no question that came out of them, to know about me or to check in with me. They usually just talked to me, on whatever subject they wanted to talk about.

Hence, I used to get nervous when anyone asked me any questions, especially in places where there was hierarchy (school, university, work place, etc). I sometimes still get anxious when my husband asks me any questions.

Now my children have grown to be very chatty and they ask me so many questions. All random sorts. I am re-learning how questions can be ways to explore other people’s feelings, to relate, to make jokes, etc. it feels wonderful to be asked so many random questions, especially about me.

Can anyone else relate to this?

Completed Latin course!

I don’t understand any grammatical structure of the language (which I think is the core of the language), neither know how to speak in past or future tenses, but here we go!

Mature student interview follow up (still waiting)

I’m a mature student applicant - had an interview about three weeks ago, and am now waiting for a follow up, waiting for any results to be shared. I’ve read the result will be shared by the end of May, which is practically now and a few more hours left..

Have any of you received an update on the application? Wishing all mature student applicants good luck!
