When does this end??
My baby is almost 7 months old and has slept terribly and erratically since the day she was born — like, I can count on one hand the times she’s slept in a 4+ hour stretch. Most nights it’s 1-2hrs. I’m coming undone. My first slept great and I realize now he was a total unicorn, but I have no idea how to handle this or why it’s happening.
Some context:
- she’s on Similac Alimentum due to some food sensitivities (dairy, eggs, soy, nuts, shellfish, so on….) we discovered at 6 weeks.
- she’s a terrible snacker — she will maybe eat an ounce or two or three during feeds during the day, but at night when she’s half asleep she will take 4-5 no problem. I know she’s in a terrible habit of eating too much at night, but I can’t force her to eat more in the day, can I??
- she’s has started solids and loves them, I have been hesitant to go full force because of her many sensitivities and tummy problems. She’s very gassy, especially at night. I have tried everything to help it…
- as of this last week and a half she’s now sleeping in her crib in a shared room with her toddler brother (who never wakes up to her cries, bless him), but before she was in a bassinet next to me. We never stayed in bed long, though, as she was awake so often and needed held, so 9/10 nights we’d end up in the recliner rocking chair with her in my arms. Her sleeping out of our room has been an improvement only in the sense that we have our freedom back a little and I sleep better without hearing her every move. She’s a loud and violent sleeper, often slamming her legs a lot
- she is getting a tooth, I can see it. And she’s trying to crawl. Girl just doesn’t slow down.
- I do not want to “sleep train”
Does this just stop eventually? When we first moved her to her crib she was sleeping in 3-4hr stretches and I thought we were making progress 🫠
