WIBTA for ignoring my former boss after she accused me of lying and stealing?

I (25F) live in a small tourist town that gets really busy from April until October/November. We have beautiful beaches, great wine, and everything people want for a perfect summer holiday.

Last summer (2025), I worked as a student for a property management company. We managed reservations for villas, vacation houses, and apartments. Besides that, we cleaned the properties after guests checked out, did check-ins/check-outs, laundry, and managed mobile homes in campsites too.

My role ended up being basically everything: administration, coordination, management, HR… all in one.

In mid-August, I went to do a guest check-out and noticed some money was missing from the security deposit. Important context: in my country, security deposits are usually paid in cash. Guests receive a signed and stamped confirmation, and if everything is okay at check-out, they get their money back.

I kept all deposits in one of those cash envelope budget binders. Each envelope had the guest’s last name, dates, and deposit amount written on it.

That day, I realized one envelope was missing €20. Then I checked the others and noticed almost every envelope was missing either €10 or €20. None of the larger bills (€50 or €100) were missing, only small amounts from each envelope.

I still returned the deposits to the guests, but I was absolutely furious.

There were a lot of employees in the company overall, but only four of us worked in that office. Only three other people even knew about my envelope binder. The day before, I accidentally left it in my desk drawer under some papers because I felt really sick that day (I have a rare type of epilepsy).

I called my boss and asked if we could talk. When she arrived, she immediately said she felt awful. I asked her multiple times if she was okay or needed something, and she kept saying she was fine.

Then I explained what happened.

Her only response was basically: “Oh.”

I told her I didn’t want to work somewhere where I couldn’t leave my things without worrying they’d get stolen. In my country, stealing from coworkers is considered extremely shameful, so this really upset me.

In total, €170 was missing, and at the time I was earning €7/hour.

She started guilt-tripping me, asking: “How can you do this to me?” and “Are you really going to leave me like this?”

I asked her what she thought would be fair, and we agreed I would stay one more month to help her out. She also said she would compensate me for the stolen money.

After that month passed, she suddenly changed her mind. She claimed I had manipulated her into offering compensation and accused me of lying about the theft altogether.

Then she told me she had “tested” the employees by leaving €5000 on her desk and nobody stole it.

I told her nobody in their right mind would steal ALL of the cash at once, especially when there are only three people in the office. Taking small amounts from multiple envelopes is way less noticeable.

She also tried claiming this was the first time something like this had ever happened at the company. I reminded her of at least four separate incidents where other employees had money stolen too, but she completely ignored that.

We ended things badly, but even after I quit, she constantly called me asking for help with work-related problems. Eventually she stopped, and I finally had some peace.

Then today — almost 9 months after I left — she called me on a Sunday at 9 AM. I didn’t hear the phone, but then she texted me:

“Good morning, please answer, I have some issues with Villa XY. Thanks.”

She called again and I still didn’t answer.

I now have a new job that I genuinely love, and honestly, I just want her to leave me alone.

So… WIBTA if I just ignored her completely?
