Hi guys, how are you doing? I practice my lower register daily, and now I think it would be great if I could improve my upper register, especially my mixed voice. I know a little about head voice, though I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly. I’ve studied mixed voice online and learned about the passaggio, which I believe is mainly responsible for developing mix voice and connecting head voice with chest voice.
I think I’m a baritone, so my primo passaggio is around B3 to C4. That seems to be where I need to start lightening my chest voice; otherwise, I strain too much. Around E4 to F4, if I stay in full chest voice, my voice cracks and flips into falsetto or head voice.
So, in simple terms, does my mix voice begin around C4 to E4, where my voice gradually lightens toward a head-dominant coordination? Also, how can I consistently remind myself to transition properly instead of pulling chest voice too high? Could you suggest some exercises for developing mixed voice? YouTube feels very confusing because there’s so much conflicting information.
