Questions about re-entry permits, extensions and VOA — anyone been through this?
Hi all! My wife and I are on TR Single Entry visas (probably 60 days?) and want to use Thailand as a base to explore nearby countries like Malaysia, Cambodia and Laos. We have a confirmed onward flight out of Thailand around day 50.
A few questions:
Re-entry permit: If we want to do short trips to neighboring countries and come back, can we simply buy one at Immigration or at the airport before leaving? I've seen 1,000 THB mentioned. Is it really that straightforward, or are there gotchas?
Multiple entries: Is there a way to get a multiple re-entry permit upfront rather than buying one each time we leave? Worth it if we plan several side trips?
30-day extension: What's the actual experience like at Immigration offices? Just TM.7 + 1,900 THB + passport? Do they typically ask for proof of funds or an onward ticket, and what's the best timing to apply?
VOA after TR expires:** If we've used the extension and want even more time in the region, is it realistic to do a border run and re-enter on a VOA? Anyone done this successfully?
Immigration lawyer or agent: Anyone have a trusted agent in Bangkok or Koh Samui they'd recommend for in-person advice?
Thanks — firsthand experience is really appreciated!
