What small breed of dog should I get?
Hi everyone,
I am considering adding a small breed dog in the near future with the goal of competing in a variety of dog sports. Specifically, I am interested in conformation, scent work, and potentially therapy work, depending on the dog’s temperament.
I am very comfortable with high-drive, working dogs, as I currently own a Doberman and have previously owned working-line Labradors. I have also owned Chihuahuas and Dachshunds in the past, but overall I am relatively newer to the small dog space.
At the moment, I am leaning toward a Dachshund, given my prior experience with the breed and the opportunity to participate in barn hunt. That said, I would appreciate any recommendations for other small breeds that are well-suited to these types of activities.
