I’m stuck in a really frustrating situation with Iberia and hoping someone here has dealt with something similar.
I tried to transfer Avios from BA to Iberia but got blocked due to a small name mismatch. I contacted Iberia and was told it would be fixed within 24 hours… 72 hours later, nothing happened and no updates.
I contacted them again and was told my case would be prioritized, but I urgently needed to book a ticket and couldn’t wait any longer.
Here’s where it gets worse: an Iberia agent told me to delete my account and create a new one to solve the issue. I followed that advice (big mistake), and now:
- My original account is permanently deleted
- My new account can’t receive Avios because of the 3-month rule
- Different agents gave completely contradictory information
So now I’m stuck with Avios I can’t use, because of advice given by Iberia themselves.
Has anyone:
- Managed to get Iberia to override the 3-month rule?
- Had Avios manually transferred by support?
- Found any workaround at all?
Any advice would be hugely appreciated 🙏
