Joining the transmission replacement club

Went in last week for my 7,500 filter swap and ended up being told I need to get a new transmission.

The service guy took me out into the bay, and the tech pointed to a plug on the side that has a small drip leak. Apparently that can't be fixed at the dealer and needs a whole transmission. Anyone else have this happen to them?

They gave me the choice of just buttoning it back up and taking it home or leave it there and get a loaner. It's still very drivable, which is annoying, so I took it home.

I'm happy that the tech was thorough and checked all the right spots, but it's kind of a bummer as the car has been running great.

They said a new transmission would be here in five to seven days and then two to swap.

I plan on driving 1,700 miles right after I get it back so any tips on what to check on after I pick it up?

I don't want it to die on my trip.
