Could these old CVTs be any more like hot garbage?
My original CVT seized at 110k miles. I bought the car with 60k miles 4 years ago, and replaced the CVT fluid twice between then and when it failed. I bought a JDM transmission that was reported to have 55k miles on it. 4k miles later, that one has failed as well.
If you're in the market for a pre-2020 Subaru, I'd only consider a manual. I wouldn't trust one of the newer ones either, but a lot of people think they're better. It's unfortunate Subaru won't be offering manual Crosstreks at all anymore.
End rant.
