My boss is stupid
So tonight we had an event at my job and I was running the bar. At the end of the night I go to get the payment for the event and accidentally finalize it without adding the gratuity. My boss decides to come by and show me a way to ring it up separately using the bar register. All we would have to do is show the receipt to the CEO and she would give us that money herself. Now on this register I have to finalize every receipt that goes through it and when we get to the event ticket he is standing next to me. As we're going through the process I finalize it and he immediately believes I've now double charged him. For context the gratuity is $100, so he proceeds to take the hundred out of the register and give it back to the event planner. Low and behold as he's counting tills we come up $92 short and we start arguing about how it happened. I hopelessly argue with him for twenty minutes trying to explain what happened. He couldn't fathom that just because a purchase was done digitally that taking out 100 dollars will make the system come up short. Now neither me, him, or the kitchen worker will receive our tip for the evening. I just can't understand how I have to explain this multiple times to him only for him to literally not listen and tell me I'm wrong only to AT THE VERY END finally realize what I'm saying and just throwing his hands up. Our boss is still going to ask where that money went so that's gonna be a fun conversation.
