Inclusive Work Contracts

Had a chat about new contracts that are being offered as a voluntary agreement for the customer facing roles. From what I’ve read about the one I was suggested as the “best fit” it seems a load of bollocks.

For “full time availability”

- Minimum 24 hour contract 6 days a week guaranteed, so you’re doing 4 hour shifts BARE MINIMUM (pointless I already do 30-35 hours across 5 days on a similar base contract why should I do 6 days a week instead if I agreed)

Yes you may get overtime but if your store has unavailable hours to spare you will essentially be stuck being a part time full timer.

- Have to give around 200-250% extra availability against your contact hours so about 80-90ish hours you must be available to be scheduled to work across those 6 days

- Every week may be different shift patters so you’ll have no predictable social life and you may as well sack your weekends off 🤣

- Involuntary overtime, there’s potential you will be scheduled in for overtime as and when the business needs you particularly in busy periods eg Christmas but I feel this will be abused to make people cover sickness/leave etc without questioning first. It says overtime isn’t guaranteed but you’ll basically get given it when it suits.

BUT if you do regular overtime and do it for 16 out of 18 weeks continuously they will offer you a extension for your weekly contracted hours

- The contract also states management can change the details within the agreement AFTER you’ve signed within a 3 month period

Am I right in thinking that this is complete and utter bollocks or am I looking too far in-between the lines?

This is purely voluntary but I don’t think I’ll be accepting anything to be honest and see how it develops into next year, I know some other places have already experienced these proposals and the reception wasn’t brilliant due to locking availability in blocks for open mid and close hours so there was more concern about that with parents, child care etc.
