Starting at my local Co-op food today!

I'm looking forward to starting, especially since it's a 20min walk away. Only problem is I can't log on to MyHR yet or MyApplications yet. I've had the email about it with my username but it's not accepting it, lol.

volume of self-service tills

is there any way to turn down the volume of the self-service tills, have tried a few buttons including the speaker symbol but all that does is make a beep noise! they’re so incredibly loud in my local shop and all 8 of them are shouting the same thing out of sync. My autistic friends can’t handle going in there. Other supermarkets tis have settings where you can adjust the tills but can’t figure it out in coop

Bakery hours

Just a quick question. How many hours do you get in your store for the morning baker? I used to have six hours 6am-12pm and a couple of months ago it was cut down to four hours 6am-10am. I've only ever done two days a week for twelve hours, but now I've got to do my twelve hours over three days. We also have hot food in my store too. It's basically impossible to get it all done in that time, and supposedly the cut in "time allowed" came from the area manager. I don't think it's right or fair. Has this cut happened everywhere?

The former Co-op department store on Newgate Street in Newcastle a Grade II listed Art Deco building that opened in 1932

Ninety years ago, the Co-operative department store on Newgate Street became a major new addition to Newcastle's retail landscape, going on to trade until 2011

The Co-op’s in-house architect LG Ekins designed the new store, employing many internal and external Art Deco features that characterised the inter-war period. Classical and Egyptian styles also appeared in the design. With its twin towers, sweeping curves and huge windows boasting views across the city, the now-iconic building was regarded as Newcastle’s most elegant shopping outlet. Across 170,000 square feet and housed on six floors linked by marble-lined staircases, it was the ultimate retail experience.

Have any memories or experiences visiting/working here over the years? Let us know in the comments below!

Co-op Radio

What are your guys’ thoughts on it.

The song’s are SO repetitive, and they need more variation. The hosts on saturday are great; just wish they spoke for longer.

And also (anyone who works at Co-op), why does the ‘Voter ID’ ad still play! My colleagues and I talk about it so much and it drives me nuts!

Hopefully some new songs will start to play, rather than ‘take me like a taker, baby I’m a giver’ <- I hate that song now.

Just a rant, hope other have things to say.

Can you eat these cold?

Heavily pregnant and just ate a whole packet - husband says they’re not meant to be eaten cold. Should I be worried?

Thanks

I know there’s different co-operatives across the country. Some near me are blue, some are green, some are lakes&dales.

I don’t understand the few green ones though. I can use my blue membership card in them, but the branding is totally different and pricing of many products is different too.

What do I do about a membership card?

A few months ago (possibly even a year ago), I signed up for a Co-Op membership online. I provided my details, paid the £1 fee required.

Whilst I've been able to use my membership via my phone app, including scanning and choosing offers, I have yet to receive a physical card. I was not told that the Co-Op were deciding to stop sending them out, and I haven't found anywhere online on their website to ask about it.

Just to be clear, I am aware that I can use my phone, but personally I find it unreliable. I mainly use self-checkouts and on a couple of occasions, the QR code on the app hasn't scanned. I also mainly pay by card, so I have to fumble about getting my phone and opening the app, putting it away and getting out my card. It's a hassle.

Does anyone have any advice?

Southern Co-op members overwhelmingly back merger plans after rejecting Central Co-op

Members of Southern Co-op have voted decisively in favour of merging with the national Co-op Group, with an overwhelming 97.07 per cent backing the proposal at yesterday's Special General Meeting.

The ballot saw 13,361 votes cast, representing a strong turnout that demonstrates active participation in the co-operative's governance.

A Southern Co-op spokesperson confirmed the result: "At the Special General Meeting of Southern Co-operative Limited held on 6th May, Southern Co-op Members voted in favour of the Special Resolution to transfer the engagements of the Society to a subsidiary of The Co-operative Group."

The vote represents a major milestone for the proposed deal, though a second ballot will ultimately determine whether the transaction proceeds.

Should the merger receive final approval, more than 300 food shops, funeral homes and coffee outlets currently operated by Southern Co-op would become part of the national chain.

The combined organisation would boast sales of approximately £11.5billion and operate close to 2,500 stores throughout the country.
